A successful Newbury Jazz & Blues

Following on from what appeared to be a successful first Newbury Jazz & Blues, enjoyed by visitors and the musicians, I asked for your feedback. And, it would seem you agreed: –

The music, atmosphere, location and sense of community were common positives mentioned in the survey. This was reflected in what we saw on both days. Saturday night saw people dancing in the Market Place, whereas Sunday was more subdued with seating in place. Although there were still the odd dancers feeling the need.

Around the Market Place pubs and restaurants were busy with people enjoying the music and atmosphere. Which was really good to see.

Feedback to Jon has been that the musicians are asking if they can play again next year! On the Newbury Jazz & Blues Facebook, Ma Bessie said, “What a great Festival – just nice music and people”

Of course, there is room for improvement and I thank you for the constructive way suggestions have been put forward.

As a first attempt at bringing something different to Newbury, both the BID, Jon Walsh and myself were very pleased to see the results. All the feedback has been discussed in the debrief this week and we’ve started planning for next year.

If you visit the Newbury Jazz & Blues Facebook page there are some videos from the event and we’ve also received some great photos from local photographers, which will be posted shortly.

Again, thank you to everybody who attended, played and made the inaugural Newbury Jazz & Blues a very entertaining event. I certainly enjoyed it.. once the rain stopped on Saturday morning!
