Newbury’s inaugural Jazz & Blues festival is this weekend (15/16 July). A free two-day event in the Market Place featuring 10 hours of Acoustic & Electric Blues, Jazz and Jazz Swing.
Proceedings will kick off at 6pm on the Saturday with: –
- 6pm – The Bob Long Trio
- 7.15pm – The Andy Kennedy Quintet
- 8.30pm – The Robin Bibi band
On Sunday, the music will begin at 2pm and features 5 acts: –
- 2pm – The Rag & Moan Men
- 3.15pm – Fleur Stevenson
- 4.30pm – Chicago 9
- 5.45pm – Ma Bessie
- 7pm – The Jon Walsh Trio
Jon Walsh, myself and Newbury BID are hoping to bring something different to Newbury and for this to become an annual event.
Venues around Newbury host some superb live music and thanks to Jon, who has secured some top musicians, and the support of Newbury BID, I hope this will be a great weekend for the community and visitors alike. With Sunday being the carnival too, there should be a fabulous atmosphere around the town.
During the festival, many town centre pubs & restaurants will be offering various food & drink discounts to wrist band wearers (available on the day). Details of which can be found on the Newbury Jazz & Blues website or in the festival guide on the day.
