They were quite a spectacle in 2015 and Newbury Carnival organisers have announced that the fabulous Rampage Mas Band will be returning to the carnival parade on July 16th. They will feature as part of the parade as it makes its way through Newbury Town Centre and perform in front of the main stage in Victoria Park during the Carnival Fete.
Rampage Mas Band
Rampage Mas Band are a 45-strong group of adult and child dancers who will be bringing the best of West Indian carnival tradition to the streets of Newbury with a mix of UK and Caribbean carnival styles.
Ruth Walker, Project Manager for Newbury Carnival 2017, said “We are delighted Rampage have chosen to join us again this year. They bring an exciting and dynamic mix of costumes and music typical of the ‘big’ carnivals, like Rio and Notting Hill. They promise to be a brilliant spectacle, please don’t miss the amazing opportunity to see them.”
Rampage Mas Band has appeared in many leading Carnivals in the UK and Europe. This year they are celebrating their 30-year anniversary by taking us into a journey of the past called ‘Dis is Mas’ which promises to be very vibrant and exciting.
The carnival is being well supported by the community with over 40 parade entries from: –
- Dance and theatre groups
- Local organisations
Those who have recently joined the parade include: –
- Eight Bells for Mental Health with ‘Under the Sea’
- Mark Suits and Mrs Jones Bridal with ‘Beauty and the Beast’
- Jollypop Entertainments with ‘Tinkerbell’ and ‘Ariel’.
